Nylon Flat Webbing Net

Nylon, high-strength polyester and polypropylene flat webbing lifting nets — woven to order in Taizhou, China

Short description

A nylon flat webbing net is a lifting net woven from flat webbing bands instead of round rope. The bands cross at right angles into an open square mesh, the load is spread across the whole underside of the consignment rather than a few contact points, and the reinforced corner loops slip straight over the crane hook or master ring — no shackle, no choker, no edge damage to the cargo.

Because the band is flat, the net can also be printed. Working load limit, net size, a fleet number or your own brand can be woven or printed along the band, so the net carries its own identification instead of relying on a sewn-on label that wears off.

We weave this net in three flat webbing materials — nylon, high-strength polyester and polypropylene — rated from 0.3 t to 10 t, with band width, mesh opening and net size built to your drawing. Every net is load tested and supplied with a material test report. The round-rope versions are on the nylon cargo lifting net page, and the complete net range is listed under cargo lifting nets.

1. What a nylon flat webbing net is

A flat webbing net is a lattice, not a bag. Flat bands of high-tenacity webbing are woven or cross-stitched into a square grid, a folded double-stitched border runs around the whole perimeter, and four reinforced corner loops are what the crane lifts from. Put the load inside the mesh, lift from the corners, and the net carries the consignment as one unit.

That construction gives the flat webbing net three properties that decide where it is used. It is soft, so it will not mark paint, plating, packaging or machined faces. It is flat, so the load is spread over a wide face instead of a line of contact. And it does not stretch, so the net stays tight against the load while the crane takes up the slack and the mesh does not open up under load.

Figure 2 — A flat webbing lifting net carrying bagged goods, lifted from its four corner loops.

Four things decide how the net performs, and all four are under our control because we weave the webbing on our own looms:

  • The band — nylon, high-strength polyester or polypropylene, and its width and layer count. This sets the strength of each band and how the net wears.
  • The mesh opening — the distance between bands. It has to be small enough to hold the items inside and open enough to keep the net light.
  • The border — a folded, double-stitched band around the perimeter so the edge bands cannot unroll or pull out under load.
  • The corner loops — four reinforced loops stitched through the border, or eight for a spreader beam. The load must go into the corners, never into the middle of a panel.

Pallet-sized versions of this net are the crane pallet cargo net and the heavier lattice nets are covered as the webbing cargo lifting net in Section 3.2 below.

2. Why flat webbing rather than round rope

Round rope and flat webbing can be made from the same polymer and still behave quite differently in service. The band profile is what changes: a flat band spreads the load over its full width, a round strand concentrates it on a line. That single difference drives most of the specification decisions.

  • Non-marking contact — a flat band lies against the cargo instead of biting into it, which is why webbing nets are the standard choice for painted, plated, bagged and boxed goods.
  • Wide load distribution — the load is shared across the full width of every band under the consignment, so the pressure on the packaging is far lower than under a rope net of the same capacity.
  • Low stretch — high-tenacity polyester webbing stretches 7 % or less at working load, so the net holds its shape and the mesh does not creep open while the load is being lifted.
  • Printable identification — the working load limit, length, mesh and even your own brand can be woven or printed along the band, so the net is marked permanently.
  • Folds flat — a webbing net collapses into a bag or a locker and can be carried by one person, which matters on a quay or in a container.

Flat webbing does have limits. It has less cut resistance than wire rope, so it must be kept off sharp edges with a sleeve or pad; and a single band takes less load than a steel strand, so capacities stay in the 0.5 t – 10 t band rather than the 50 t – 100 t range of a wire net.

3. The three flat webbing materials

The three nets below are built identically — same lattice, same border, same corner loops. What changes is the polymer the band is woven from, and that decides the strength, the stretch, the weight and the environment the net will survive.

The three flat webbing materials: nylon, high-strength polyester and polypropylene.

Figure 3 — The three flat webbing materials: nylon, high-strength polyester and polypropylene.

3.1 Nylon flat webbing net

Nylon webbing is the most forgiving of the three. It is stronger than polypropylene for the same band width and it stretches considerably more than polyester, so it absorbs the snatch when the crane takes up the slack instead of passing it straight into the cargo and the hook. That makes it the right band for loads that shift as they are lifted, for rough handling, and for cargo where a little give is safer than a rigid net.

It is also the best-looking band in a light colour: natural white nylon webbing takes printing cleanly, which is why it is used where the marking has to be legible and permanent.

3.2 High-strength polyester flat webbing net

Polyester webbing is the workhorse band, and the one we recommend for most lifting nets. It has the lowest stretch of the three, so the net stays tight on the load and the mesh keeps its shape; it resists UV and abrasion better than nylon in long outdoor service; and it will not rot. It is supplied in duplex (double layer) as standard, which roughly doubles the wear life where the net is dragged across pallets or concrete.

This is the construction behind the webbing cargo lifting net and the polyester webbing net for lifting, and the material is woven on the same looms that make our webbing slings and endless round slings.

Construction

  • Band — 100 % high-tenacity polyester webbing, duplex (double layer) as standard.
  • Mesh — 100 × 100 mm square opening as standard; 50 mm to 300 mm to order.
  • Border — folded, double-stitched border with reinforced corners.

3.3 Polypropylene flat webbing net

Polypropylene webbing is the lightest and the cheapest of the three, and the only one that floats. It absorbs almost no water, so a saturated net weighs no more than a dry one, and it resists acids, alkalis and most solvents far better than nylon. That combination makes it the natural band for wet quays, wash-down areas, agriculture and any job where the net may go over the side.

The compromises are real and worth stating plainly. Polypropylene has the lowest strength and the lowest abrasion resistance of the three, and it degrades in sunlight unless it is UV-stabilised — which we add to every polypropylene net as standard, because an unstabilised net left outdoors loses strength quickly. It also has the lowest melting point, so it is not the net for hot material.

Construction

  • Band — 100 % polypropylene flat webbing, 25 mm to 50 mm wide.
  • Mesh — 50 mm to 300 mm, square or diamond.
  • Border — folded, double-stitched; UV-stabilised as standard.

4. Flat webbing net or round rope net?

This page covers the flat webbing net, but it is not the right net for every load. The table below puts it next to the round-rope and wire-rope constructions we also make, so you can see which one belongs on your job.

Characteristic Flat webbing net (this page) Nylon rope woven net Polypropylene rope net Steel wire rope net

Typical capacity 0.5 t – 10 t 1 t – 50 t 0.5 t – 30 t 2 t – 100 t
Best for Bagged, boxed, palletised and finished cargo Timber, stone, scrap, drums, shock loads Wet, chemical and floating duty Hot, sharp and abrasive bulk

Table 4 — The four net constructions compared.

In short: choose the flat webbing net when the cargo must not be marked and the load is palletised or bagged; choose the nylon rope woven net (linked above) when the load is irregular, heavy or shock-loading; and choose the cargo lifting net wire rope construction when the cargo is hot, sharp or abrasive. For heavy rubber and scrap work, the heavy duty nylon cargo net sling is the usual answer, and the tensioned lashing version is the cargo securing net.

5. Band width, mesh and edge options

Two nets of the same size and capacity can behave quite differently depending on the band width, the number of layers and how the edge is finished. These are the options we quote most often.

Option What it does Choose it when
25 / 30 mm band Lightest net per square metre Small nets, light loads, and where handling weight matters most
50 mm band The standard lifting band Most palletised and bagged cargo; the best balance of strength, weight and cost
75 / 100 mm band Fewer, wider bands carry the load Heavy or abrasive cargo, and where the net has to spread load over a large area
Single layer Thinner, lighter, cheaper band Light duty and dry, clean handling
Duplex (double layer) Two layers stitched as one band Dragging across pallets or concrete, and any high-wear duty
Folded edge The border band is turned over and stitched Every net — this is what stops the edge band unrolling
Reinforced corner Extra stitching and a doubled band at each corner Every net; corners carry the whole load
Square mesh Bands run parallel to the net edges Stacked, palletised and rectangular loads
Diamond mesh The lattice is rotated 45°, so the bands close around the load Loose or rounded loads that need to be contained
PU coating Coating the band stiffens the mesh and resists abrasion High-abrasion duty, or where the net must hold its shape when empty

Table 5 — Band width, mesh and edge options.

6. Standard net sizes and rated capacities

Net size is always quoted as length × width, measured along the border, not as the mesh area. The load must sit well inside the border — a net the same size as the load will shed it. Every size below is also made to drawing.

Net size (L × W) Mesh opening Band width Typical capacity Typical use
1 × 1 m 100 mm 25 / 30 mm 0.3 t – 1 t Small components, drums, single pallets
1.2 × 1.2 m (4 × 4 ft) 100 mm 50 mm 1 t – 3 t Standard pallet footprint, machine parts
2.1 × 2.1 m (82 × 82 in) 100 mm 50 mm 2 t – 5 t Imperial pallet footprint
2.5 × 2.5 m 100 – 150 mm 50 mm 2 t – 5 t Palletised and bagged cargo, container loading
2.5 × 6 m 150 mm 50 / 75 mm 4 t – 10 t Long cargo, pipe bundles, truck loading
4 × 4 m 150 – 200 mm 75 / 100 mm 8 t – 10 t + Large pallets, bulk bagged cargo

Table 6 — Standard net sizes. Custom sizes, mesh and lifting points are made to drawing.

7. How to specify a nylon flat webbing net

A lifting net is a made-to-order item, and eight pieces of information are enough for us to quote it correctly the first time. If you have a drawing of the truck bed, container or hold the net has to fit, send that instead — we work from drawings regularly.

Information we need Why it matters
Load weight and load shape Sets the rated capacity and how many load-bearing bands sit under the load
Net length × width The net must be larger than the load footprint so the load sits inside the mesh
Mesh opening Holds the items in; a smaller mesh is needed for small or loose pieces
Band width and layer Sets the strength and wear life of each band, and the weight of the net
Material Nylon, high-strength polyester or polypropylene — see Section 3
Lifting points Four corner loops as standard, or eight for a spreader beam
Crane, hook or spreader Determines the ring or shackle fitted to the corner loops
Environment and documentation UV, salt water, chemicals, temperature; CE marking, test report or own-brand printing

Table 7 — What we need to quote a nylon flat webbing net.

8. Lifting configurations and corner fittings

How the net is hung decides how much of the load it actually carries. These are the four arrangements we fit most often.

  • Four-loop lift — the standard. The four corner loops are gathered onto a single hook or master ring, and the load hangs in the middle of the net.
  • Eight-point spreader lift — the net is lifted from eight loops on a beam or frame. The net stays square, the load stays level and each corner carries a predictable share.
  • Basket or bag form — the net is closed around the load and lifted from a single point, used for loose or awkward cargo. See the polyester lifting hoisting net for this style.
  • Lorry-bed or lashing net — the net is tensioned over or across the load as a securing net rather than lifted from four corners.

Where the consignment is long or wide, the net is lifted from a beam rather than a single hook — the lifting spreader beam takes the eight points, keeps the net square and keeps the cargo level. A bag-formed version is available as the polyester lifting hoisting net.

Corner fitting Used with Note
Sewn webbing loop Flat webbing nets, single hook The standard; the loop is stitched through the border with a doubled band
Reinforced loop with pad Heavy and abrasive cargo An extra layer of webbing protects the loop where it meets the hook
Master link / master ring Four-loop lift Gathers all four loops onto one point under the hook
Shackle or hook Eight-point spreader lift Grade 80 fittings supplied with the beam on request
Protection sleeve Any sharp-edged load Slips over the band at the contact point; the cheapest way to extend net life

Table 8 — Corner fittings we supply.

9. Colour, printing and identification

Flat webbing has one advantage the round-rope nets do not: the identification can be woven or printed directly onto the band, where it cannot be pulled off, washed away or lost.

  • Orange is the high-visibility standard for lifting nets and the easiest colour to see on a quay, in a container or on a truck bed.
  • Blue, black, green, red and custom colours are available for fleet identification or to match existing equipment.
  • The working load limit, net size and mesh can be printed along the band on every net, as shown in Figure 1.
  • OEM orders can carry your own brand, address, warning text or a certificate number woven into the band.
  • A sewn capacity label is still fitted as standard, so the net and the paperwork always match.
  • Nets ship folded in a bag or a crate, and a spare corner loop and protection sleeve can be supplied for fleets that maintain their own equipment.
  • Package, logo and colour are all customisable, which is what the CE, GS and JIS certification covers on our own-brand orders.

10. Quality control and certification

Weaving the webbing ourselves is what makes a made-to-order net practical. Band width, layer, colour, mesh and capacity are all set inside our own plant, so a net is tuned to the load instead of being assembled from whatever band a supplier happens to stock.

Our own weaving floor: flat webbing coming off the needle looms, the same band used in every net on this page.

Figure 4 — Our own weaving floor: flat webbing coming off the needle looms, the same band used in every net on this page.

  • 40 years of lifting equipment manufacturing — founded in 1985 in Taizhou, Jiangsu, with more than 200 employees, one of China’s largest lifting sling and net production bases.
  • Own weaving mill — band width, colour, printing and layer count are under our control, and the same looms supply our webbing slings and round slings.
  • Own testing laboratory — our facilities hold CNAS laboratory accreditation, European CE certification and DNV certification, with CE, GS and JIS certification on the lifting products themselves.
  • 1000 t horizontal test machine — the breaking load of every net is tested and documented rather than sampled, and a material test report travels with the order.
  • Every net is marked with its rated capacity, band width and mesh before packing, so the marking on the net and the paperwork match.
  • 15 authorised patents on our lifting products, and the webbing is rated to the EN 1492-1 basis used across our sling range.

11. Where nylon flat webbing nets are used

Industry What the net lifts Why flat webbing suits it
Ports and terminals Bagged and palletised cargo, container stuffing and de-stuffing Soft enough to be pulled around the cargo inside a container
Steel service centres Plate packs, sheet packs, bundles, machined parts Non-marking; the wide band distributes load over the pack face
Construction Bricks, blocks, bagged materials, formwork Holds small units in the mesh without strapping them individually
Manufacturing and assembly Painted, plated and finished components No marking and no edge damage on finished surfaces
Warehousing and distribution Pallets, cartons, mixed loads Fast four-loop lift; folds away when not in use
Agriculture Bulk bags, feed, produce Duplex band resists the wear of repeated pallet handling
Marine and offshore Deck cargo and transfer loads Rust-free and quiet on a moving deck
Military and disaster relief Palletised relief cargo by crane or helicopter Printable identification and a net that folds into a bag

12. Care, inspection and retirement

  • Read the capacity label and the printed marking before every lift, and check that the load, and the way it is slung, are inside the rated capacity.
  • Inspect the corner loops and their stitching most carefully — that is where a webbing net wears first — then the border, then the load-bearing bands.
  • Look for cuts, abrasion, broken stitching, chemical staining, heat glazing and the colour change that signals UV degradation.
  • Keep the load inside the mesh and away from the border, and protect the bands from sharp edges and hot surfaces with a protection sleeve or pad.
  • Never exceed the rated capacity, never lift on fewer than the full set of corner loops, and never use a lifting net to drag a load sideways.
  • Store the net clean and dry, off the ground and out of direct sun, and never repair a webbing net by knotting, welding or heating it.
  • Withdraw the net from service if any load-bearing band, the border, a corner loop or its stitching is damaged, and have nets inspected by a competent person at the interval your site requires.

13. Frequently asked questions

What is a nylon flat webbing net made of?

It is woven from flat high-tenacity webbing — nylon, polyester or polypropylene — into an open square mesh, with a folded and double-stitched border and four reinforced corner loops. The band is the difference from a rope net, not the lattice.

Which of the three materials should I choose?

High-strength polyester for most lifting work: lowest stretch, best UV and abrasion resistance, and supplied duplex as standard. Nylon where the load shifts or shock-loads and a little give is safer. Polypropylene where the net works wet, may go over the side, or meets chemicals, and where cost matters most.

Can the net be printed with my own brand?

Yes — this is the main advantage of a flat band. The working load limit, net size, mesh, fleet number, your brand or a certificate number can be woven or printed along the band, where it cannot be pulled off or washed away. Package, logo and colour are all customisable.

What capacity can you supply?

From 0.3 t to 10 t for flat webbing nets, depending on the material and the band width: 0.5 t – 10 t in nylon, 1 t – 10 t in high-strength polyester, and 0.3 t – 5 t in polypropylene. Heavier nets and larger mesh are built to order.

Can you make the net to my size?

Yes — most of our nets are made to drawing. Send the length and width, the mesh opening, the band width and layer, and the lifting points you need, or send a drawing of the truck bed, container or hold the net has to fit.

Will the net hold loose or bagged cargo?

That is what the mesh is for. A 100 mm opening holds bags, boxes, bricks and small components; for very fine or loose material a smaller mesh or a diamond mesh is used. Tell us the smallest item in the load and we will size the mesh to it.

What is the safety factor and how is it proved?

Nets are supplied at 5:1, 6:1 or 7:1 as specified, with the webbing rated on the EN 1492-1 basis. The breaking load of every net is tested on our own 1000 t machine and a material test report travels with the order; our facilities hold CNAS, CE and DNV certification.

Can I use it for lashing rather than lifting?

A net tensioned across a load is a securing net rather than a lifting net, and it is rated differently. Tell us at the quotation stage which duty it is for — the tensioned version is described as a cargo securing net.

What else do you make in flat webbing?

The same band is used in our webbing slings and endless round slings, which is useful when the net and the slings on the same lift should be matched in colour and elongation.

Table 11 — Outbound anchors on this page (17 unique internal links).

B2 — Inbound links to add, so this page gains weight

These are the links that build this page’s ranking power. Each one should be added to an existing, already-indexed page and should point at the nylon flat webbing net URL with the anchor shown. Vary the anchor as listed rather than repeating one phrase across every source page.

Source page Anchor text to use Why this link builds weight
/products/cargo-lifting-net/ (hub) nylon flat webbing net A link from the category hub is the single strongest internal signal for a child product page
/cargo-lifting-net/ (section page) flat webbing net Passes section-level relevance together with the parent hub link
/cargo-lifting-net/nylon-cargo-lifting-net/ flat webbing lifting net The closely related material page; a two-way link between the two nylon pages strengthens both
/cargo-lifting-net/webbing-cargo-lifting-net/ nylon flat webbing net The heavy webbing lattice page is the nearest neighbour in the cluster
/cargo-lifting-net/crane-pallet-cargo-net/ flat webbing net for pallets Pallet-sized variant feeding the parent flat webbing page
/webbing-sling/ flat webbing net Material page to finished-product page: a natural relevance match
/cargo-lifting-net/polyester-webbing-net-for-lifting/ nylon flat webbing net Same construction family, different material emphasis
Homepage (products list or footer) cargo lifting net One homepage link to the section is enough; do not point the homepage at this page directly

Table 12 — Inbound internal link plan.

Two rules keep the cluster healthy. First, keep these anchors distinct from each other and from the anchors used on the nylon cargo lifting net page — repeating one phrase across many internal links is the fastest way to create keyword cannibalisation inside your own site. Second, this page should sit one click from the hub and no deeper: breadcrumb Home > Products > Cargo Lifting Net > Nylon Flat Webbing Net, with the breadcrumb links in the HTML rather than only in a script.

Appendix C — Google indexing and ranking checklist

Item What to do for this page
Indexability Return HTTP 200, keep the page out of noindex, and make sure it is not blocked in robots.txt
Canonical Self-referencing canonical to https://www.xulft.com/cargo-lifting-net/nylon-flat-webbing-net/
XML sitemap Include the URL in the product sitemap, then resubmit the sitemap in Google Search Console
Internal links Apply both tables in Appendix B. The page needs at least one inbound link from an indexed page before it will be crawled quickly
Title and description Use the two values in Appendix A; keep them unique against the parent page and the nylon cargo lifting net page
Heading structure One H1, then H2 per section, then H3 for the Construction blocks — never skip a level
Image SEO Descriptive alt text on all 13 images, file names in lower case with hyphens, WebP format, and lazy loading below the fold
Structured data Add Product JSON-LD with name, image, description, brand and manufacturer, plus BreadcrumbList for the breadcrumb path and Organization at site level
Core Web Vitals Compress images to WebP, set width and height on every image to avoid layout shift, and defer non-critical scripts
Duplicate content Do not reuse the parent page’s or the nylon cargo lifting net page’s paragraphs. This page owns the flat-band construction, the three webbing materials and printable identification
Existing glossary to keep The page already carries WLL, material, length, width, EN 1492-1, safety factor, CE / GS / JIS, double-layer wear resistance and customisable package / logo / colour — keep those terms on the page
Search Console Submit the URL for indexing, then check the Page Indexing and Core Web Vitals reports a week later
Rank tracking Track the primary keyword plus the three main secondary keywords weekly against the parent page and the top three competitors
