10Tonne Webbing Sling – Lengths from 3mtr to 12mtr EWL Available
Ten tonnes is the point where a flat sling stops being a handling aid and becomes primary lifting gear. This is our 300 mm polyester sling: 10,000 kg WLL, 7:1 factor, made to any effective working length between 3 m and 12 m. You choose the length, the eye and the ply — we stitch the rest.
Order the EWL, not the overall length
EWL is measured between the two bearing points — the width of the eyes that actually sits on the hook and on the load. Everything outside those points is eye, not working length. A 6 m EWL sling with 400 mm eyes measures roughly 6.8 m end to end, so receiving more webbing than the number you ordered is normal.
We hold 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 a 12 m as standard and stitch anything in between to order. ʻO ka 12 m ceiling is a handling limit rather than a manufacturing one: past that point two shorter legs on a lifting spreader beam are lighter to rig and easier to keep vertical.
Length tolerance follows EN 1492-1 at ±3 % of EWL. Where a lift is geometrically fixed — trunnion spacing, spreader gap, a matched pair for a two-leg assembly — send the bearing-point dimension and we will work to that instead of a nominal length.
What changes at 10 tonnes
A 300 mm body, not a 150 mm one
Doubling the rating from 5 t roughly doubles the webbing width to 300 mm. That width is the whole point at this load: it spreads contact pressure over painted plate, machined shafts and precast faces instead of marking them, and it keeps the stitch line away from the load edge.
Duplex build where abrasion is the real enemy
Maluna 8 t, duplex is usually the better answer on abrasive work — two plies stitched as one body. Same WLL, stiffer and shorter under load, and far more forgiving on concrete corners and flame-cut steel. Single-ply 10 t stays the lighter, more flexible option where the load surface is kind.
It is a two-man sling
A 10 t, 300 mm sling at 6 m EWL is a two-man carry, not a one-hand pick. If your fitters are rigging from a ladder or an access platform, say so — we can shorten the body or move to a polyester round sling, which coils smaller for the same capacity.
Eyes that survive the hook
Reinforced flat eyes are standard. Folded eyes suit choke hitches that would otherwise crush a wide flat eye; becket ends are available for single-leg work where the sling has to pass through a bore. Eye length is quoted separately from EWL, so specify both.

Build, markings and traceability
- Webbing: 100 % poliester (PES), low elongation, UV stabilised, resistant to oil, grease and rot. Melts rather than burns, so it gives visible warning before failure.
- Stitch: multi-row lock stitch in high-tenacity polyester thread, patterned to keep the eye flat and the splice from cupping under load.
- Label: blue EN 1492-1 label carrying WLL, lōʻihi, material, manufacturer, CE mark and a serial that traces to the test batch.
- Red core yarn: a red warning yarn sits inside the cover. See red through a cut or heavy abrasion and the sling comes out of service — that is the inspection rule, not a guideline.
- Temperature: rated −40 °C to +100 °C. Above that, move to a high-temperature sling rather than derating this one.
Every batch is proof loaded and supplied with a test certificate; a CE declaration of conformity and the EN 1492-1 test report travel with the shipping documents. We test on our own 1000 t horizontal bed, so third-party witness testing can be arranged on the same pull.
Where a 10 tonne flat sling earns its keep
- Precast wall panels and formwork, where a wide body avoids edge crushing.
- Plate and section bundles out of the rack, basket hitches on 300 mm slings being the practical default.
- Shipyard blocks and engine room modules, choked on lifting lugs.
- Wind tower flanges and nacelle components, paired to a spreader beam.
- Rental fleets that need one length covering 3 m to 12 m of site variation.

Questions we get on the 10 tonne size
- How long can a 10 tonne webbing sling be?
- Up to 12 m EWL as a single sling on this page, and longer on request. Maluna 12 m most sites switch to two shorter legs on a spreader, because a long 10 t sling is heavy to handle and hard to keep off the load edge.
- What does EWL actually mean?
- The distance between the bearing points of the two eyes — the part of the sling that takes the load. It is not the end-to-end measurement. If you quote us EWL plus eye length, we can match a drawing exactly.
- How wide is a 10 tonne webbing sling?
- 300 mm in polyester under EN 1492-1, single-ply. Duplex builds reach the same 10 t in a narrower or stiffer body — tell us the load surface and we will propose the build.
- What colour is a 10 tonne sling?
- Orange under EN 1492-1. Under AS 1353 the colour scheme differs, which is why our AS 1353 50 ton slings are labelled to that standard rather than to the EN table.
- Webbing sling or round sling at 10 t?
- Flat webbing when you need width, low contact pressure and a visible inspection surface. Round sling when you need to choke a delicate or awkward shape, or coil the sling into a toolbox. Compare both in our polyester webbing sling range a round sling range.
- What safety factor do you build to?
- 7:1 as standard — a 70 t minimum breaking load for a 10,000 kg WLL. A 6:1 build is available for markets that still work to that factor.
Working up the range? ʻO ka 15 tonne polyester webbing sling uses the same 3–12 m length logic in a wider body, and the 20 ton heavy duty webbing sling is where duplex becomes standard. For 30 t and above we usually recommend the 30T webbing round lifting sling instead of a flat body.
