Polyester Webbing Net for Lifting

A high-strength polyester webbing net bag for loading and unloading heavy cargo — woven to order in Taizhou, China

Short description

A polyester webbing net for lifting is a woven net made from high-strength polyester (PET) webbing instead of rope or wire. The bands cross into an open mesh, the cargo sits inside the net, and the four reinforced corner loops are gathered onto the crane hook or a master ring. For loading and unloading duty the net is usually supplied in bag form with a closed bottom, so loose or awkward cargo is contained instead of strapped piece by piece.

Polyester is the band we recommend for handling work, and the reason is measurable. It has the lowest stretch of the soft fibres — about 7 % at the working load limit — so the net stays tight against the load and the mesh does not creep open over thousands of handling cycles. It does not absorb water and it does not rot, it resists UV better than nylon, and it is soft enough to sit against bagged, boxed, painted and machined cargo without marking it.

We weave the band ourselves, so width, layer count, mesh, colour and capacity are set to the drawing rather than to a catalogue. Nets run from 2 t to 30 t, every sling is load tested and supplied with a material test report, and the products carry CE and GS certification. For scrap and demolition duty see the heavy duty nylon cargo net sling; for the flat lattice version see the nylon flat webbing net; and for the whole range see cargo lifting nets.

1. What a polyester webbing net for lifting is

The net is a lattice. Flat polyester bands cross at right angles into a square mesh, a double-layer stitched border runs around the perimeter, and reinforced corner loops are stitched through the border at the four corners. Load the net, gather the loops, lift — and the whole consignment travels as one unit without being repacked or strapped.

Two structural details decide whether it works on a handling job. The border carries the load from the mesh into the corner loops, so it is doubled and stitched rather than folded once. And the mesh is chosen from the smallest item in the load, not from the total weight, because a mesh that is too open will let the cargo through no matter how strong the band is.

Figure 2 — A polyester webbing net in bag form lifting a stack of bagged goods from a single crane hook.

Where the cargo is loose the same net is supplied with a closed bottom, which turns it into a bag. That is the form used for loading and unloading work, and it is the version described in Section 7. The flat form is used where the load holds its own shape — pallets, bundles, boxes and stillages.

2. Why polyester webbing for a lifting net

Polyester is not simply the cheapest soft fibre. On a net that works all shift, in weather, against pallets and truck beds, it is the fibre whose properties match the duty most closely.

  • Low stretch — about 7 % at the working load limit, the lowest of the soft fibres. The net does not stretch away from the cargo while the crane takes up the slack, the mesh keeps its shape, and the load stays square in the net.
  • Does not absorb water and does not rot — a polyester net can be used in rain, in wash-down areas and on deck, and can be stored wet without mildewing.
  • Good UV resistance — better than nylon and far better than unstabilised polypropylene, which matters for a net that lives outdoors or on a truck.
  • Abrasion resistance — polyester outperforms nylon against the dry abrasion a net meets on pallets, skips and concrete, and it is supplied duplex where the net is dragged.
  • Soft, non-marking contact — the wide flat band spreads the load across its full width, so the pressure on packaging and finished surfaces is far lower than under a rope or wire net.
  • Light enough for one person — a polyester net folds into a bag and can be carried and rigged without lifting gear, unlike a wire rope net of the same capacity.
  • Dimensionally stable when wet — unlike nylon, polyester does not swell or lose strength in water, so the rated capacity holds in wet handling duty.

The honest limits: polyester is a textile, so it must be kept off sharp edges with a sleeve or pad; it works up to +100 °C but not in hot-material service; and its elongation, while low, is higher than wire rope, so it is not the band for a job that requires a rigid net.

3. The band, and how it is specified

Everything the net lifts passes through the band, so the band is where a quotation is won or lost. Five numbers describe it, and all five are printed on the label that travels with the net.

How a polyester lifting band is specified: width, edge, layer count, printed marking and the fibre basis.

Figure 3 — How a polyester lifting band is specified: width, edge, layer count, printed marking and the fibre basis.

Number What it is Range we weave
Band width The flat width of the webbing 25 mm / 50 mm / 75 mm / 100 mm / 150 mm / 200 mm; 50 mm standard
Layer count How many webs are stitched into one band Single layer, duplex (two) or triplex (three)
Band thickness Set by width and layer count 1.8 mm – 6.0 mm
Warp and weft density How tightly the yarns are packed, which sets tenacity Set to the EN 1492-1 basis for the rated capacity
Edge Woven selvedge, folded and stitched Woven selvedge as standard; folded edge where the band is handled daily

Table 1 — The five numbers that describe a polyester lifting band.

The table below is the standard relationship between band width and working load limit for a single vertical leg — the same table we use for our webbing slings. It is the starting point for sizing a net: the net’s rated capacity then follows from how many load-bearing bands sit under the cargo and how the net is rigged.

Band width Single layer Duplex Triplex
25 mm 1 t 2 t 3 t
50 mm 2 t 4 t 6 t
75 mm 3 t 6 t 9 t

Table 2 — Typical working load limit per band, vertical single leg, EN 1492-1 basis. A net’s rated capacity is not a single band figure — it depends on the band, the number of load-bearing bands under the cargo and the lifting configuration.

4. Colour coding to the working load limit

Flat webbing has one identification advantage that rope and wire nets do not: the band itself can carry the marking, and the colour of the band can be tied to the capacity. We weave the standard colour code into the band, so the capacity of a net is visible from across a yard before anyone reads the label.

Working load limit Band colour
1 t Violet
2 t Green
3 t Yellow
4 t Grey
5 t Red
6 t Brown
7 t Blue
8 t Orange

Table 3 — The standard colour code for polyester webbing lifting products. Capacities above 8 t and non-standard nets carry the manufacturer’s own colour; the colour is always confirmed on the label that travels with the net.

Two rules. First, the colour is a convenience, not the identification — the label is. Read the label before the lift. Second, where a customer wants a house colour across a fleet, we weave that instead and mark the capacity on the printed band, so the net is never identified by colour alone.

3 t yellow: the colour code is visible at a distance — these bands also carry WLL 3T 2M printed on the web 3 t yellow: the colour code is visible at a distance — these bands also carry WLL 3T 2M printed on the web 5 t red: the same band used in sling form, lifting a palletised sheet-metal pack 5 t red: the same band used in sling form, lifting a palletised sheet-metal pack

6. Standard net sizes and rated capacities

Net size is quoted as length × width measured along the border for a flat net, or as opening × depth for a bag. The load must sit well inside the net — a net the same size as the load will shed it. Everything below is also made to drawing.

Net size Mesh opening Band Typical capacity Typical use
1.0 × 1.0 m 100 mm 50 mm duplex 2 t – 3 t Drums, machine parts, single pallets
1.2 × 1.2 m (4 × 4 ft) 100 mm 50 mm duplex 2 t – 4 t Standard pallet footprint, boxed cargo

Made to drawing 50 – 300 mm 25 – 200 mm 2 t – 30 t+ Truck bed, container, hold and hopper dimensions

Table 5 — Standard net sizes. Custom sizes, mesh and lifting points are made to drawing.

Pallet-sized versions are covered by the crane pallet cargo net, long consignments by the polyester lifting hoisting net, and the tensioned lashing version is the cargo securing net.

7. The loading and unloading duty

A net that lifts a load once a week and a net that runs a loading bay all shift are different products, even when the drawing looks the same. If your net works in a handling cycle, tell us — the band, the layer count and the edge treatment are all chosen for the cycle rather than for the peak load alone.

A typical handling cycle looks like this, and every step puts load into the net:

  • Lay the net out flat on the truck bed, in the container or over the load.
  • Fill it — by hand, from a conveyor, with a grab, or by tipping the load in.
  • Gather the corner loops onto the hook or the master ring.
  • Take up the slack; the net tightens around the cargo and the bag closes.
  • Travel and lower the load into position.
  • Release the loops and pull the net clear — often across the load or the ground.

Steps two and six are where a net wears out, and they are the reason the loading and unloading versions of this net are built duplex or triplex with a doubled border. Dragging a loaded net is normal in a handling bay, and a single-layer band is simply not the right answer for it.

Figure 4 — A polyester webbing net pulled across the doorway of a container: soft enough to work around the cargo and light enough for one person to rig.

Duty question Why polyester answers it
Cycles per shift, day after day Low stretch keeps the net tight and the mesh does not creep open over thousands of cycles
Wet, dirty or wash-down environment The band does not absorb water and does not rot, so the net can be stored wet and used in the rain
Chafing against pallets, skips and truck beds Polyester outlasts nylon in dry abrasion; duplex or triplex band where the net is dragged
Outdoor storage and UV UV-stabilised polyester has the best UV resistance of the soft fibres
Fleet identification Colour code by working load limit, plus the WLL printed along the band
One-person rigging A polyester net folds into a bag and is light enough to carry and rig by hand
Scheduled inspection A printed WLL and a per-net test report make a documented inspection regime practical
Mixed loads through the same net A net sized to the smallest item and the heaviest load covers a whole bay rather than one product

8. Lifting configurations and fittings

How the net is hung decides how much of the load it actually carries. These are the four arrangements we fit most often, and the fittings that go with them.

  • Four-loop lift — the standard. The four corner loops are gathered onto a single hook or master ring, and the net closes around the cargo as the crane takes up the slack.
  • Spreader beam lift — eight loops on a beam or frame. The net stays square, the load stays level and each corner carries a predictable share.
  • Bag form — a closed bottom contains loose goods that would otherwise escape the mesh. This is the version used for loading and unloading loose cargo.
  • Flat net with the cargo sitting inside the mesh — for palletised, bundled and unitised loads that only need holding together.

Long or wide consignments are usually lifted from a beam rather than a single hook — the lifting spreader beam takes the eight points, keeps the net square and keeps the cargo level while it is transferred.

Fitting Used with Note
Sewn webbing loop Four-loop lift, single hook The standard; stitched through the border with a doubled band
Master ring or master link Four-loop lift Gathers all four loops onto one point under the hook
Shackle or hook Spreader beam lift Grade 80 fittings supplied with the beam on request
Protection sleeve or pad Any sharp-edged load Slips over the band at the contact point; the cheapest way to extend net life
PU-coated band High-abrasion and outdoor duty Improves abrasion resistance and stiffens the mesh so it holds its shape when empty
Reinforced corner loop Every heavy net Extra webbing and stitching where the load path turns — always specified above 5 t
Repair kit Fleets maintaining their own equipment Spare band, stitching thread and a spare corner loop

Table 7 — Lifting configurations and fittings.

Whatever the arrangement, the load goes into the corners and the border. Loading the middle of a panel, dragging the net sideways with the crane, or lifting on fewer than the full set of loops are the three ways a net is destroyed in service.

9. Marking, printing and identification

A net that works in a handling cycle has to be identifiable at a glance, and its marking has to survive being dragged across concrete. Flat webbing carries the identification on the band itself.

  • The working load limit, net size and mesh are printed along the band, where the marking cannot be pulled off or washed away.
  • The standard colour code ties the band colour to the capacity, so the net can be read from across a yard (Section 4).
  • A sewn capacity label is fitted as standard in addition to the printed marking, so the net and its paperwork always match.
  • OEM orders can carry your own brand, address, warning text or certificate number woven into the band.
  • Customisation of size, colour, logo and packing is what our own-brand CE and GS certification covers.
  • Nets ship folded in a bag or a crate — a set of six nets takes the space of one pallet.

10. Quality control and certification

We weave the band ourselves, which is what makes a made-to-order net practical: width, layer count, colour, printing, mesh and capacity are all set inside our own plant, so the net is built to the drawing instead of assembled from whatever band a supplier happens to stock.

  • 40 years of lifting equipment manufacturing — founded in 1985 in Taizhou, Jiangsu, with more than 200 employees, one of China’s largest lifting sling and net production bases.
  • Own weaving mill — band width, layer count, colour and printing are under our control, and the same looms supply our webbing slings and round slings.
  • CE and GS certified lifting products, with JIS certification on export orders.
  • Own testing laboratory — our facilities hold CNAS laboratory accreditation, European CE certification and DNV certification, with 15 authorised patents on our lifting products.
  • 1000 t horizontal test machine — the breaking load of every sling is tested and documented rather than sampled, and a material test report travels with the order.
  • Webbing rated to the EN 1492-1 basis, and every net marked with its working load limit, size and mesh before packing.

11. How to specify a polyester webbing net

Nine pieces of information are enough for us to quote correctly the first time. If you have a drawing of the truck bed, container, skip or hopper the net has to fit, send that instead — we work from drawings regularly.

Information we need Why it matters
Load weight and load shape Sets the rated capacity and how many load-bearing bands sit under the cargo
Net size or bag opening × depth The net must be larger than the load footprint so the cargo sits inside the mesh
Mesh opening Holds the items in; sized from the smallest item in the load, never the total weight
Band width, layer and colour code Sets the strength, the wear life and the identification of the net
Flat net or closed-bottom bag Bag form for loose cargo, flat form for loads that hold their own shape
Lifting points Four corner loops as standard, or eight for a spreader beam
Crane, hook or spreader Determines the master ring, shackle or thimble fitted at the top
Environment and duty cycle UV, salt water, chemicals, temperature, and how many cycles the net runs per shift
Tài liệu Safety factor, CN / GS marking, test report, own-brand printing and export packing

Table 8 — What we need to quote a polyester webbing net for lifting.

12. Where polyester webbing nets are used

Sector What the net does Why polyester suits it
Ports and terminals Container stuffing and de-stuffing, palletised and bagged cargo, quay and hold work Rust-free, soft against packaging and light enough to fold and stow on the quay
Loading bays and distribution Palletised, boxed and mixed loads moved all shift Low stretch keeps the net tight through thousands of cycles
Steel and fabrication Plate packs, sheet packs, bundles, machined parts Non-marking; the wide band spreads the load over the pack face
Construction and demolition Bricks, block, bagged materials, formwork Holds small units in the mesh without strapping them individually
Agriculture and bulk bags Fertiliser, grain, seed and feed in bags and big bags, lifted whole Does not absorb water or rot, so the net survives wash-down and wet storage
Recycling and waste Mixed loads, sorted waste, compost Washable, rust-free and light enough to handle by hand
Warehousing Pallets, cartons and mixed consignments Fast four-loop lift; folds away when the truck has gone
Military and disaster relief Palletised and loose relief cargo by crane or helicopter Closed-bottom bag contains loose cargo; printed marking survives the trip

13. Care, inspection and retirement

  • Read the printed marking and the capacity label before every lift, and check that the load is inside the rated capacity for the way the net is actually rigged.
  • Inspect the corner loops and their stitching first — that is where a webbing net wears first — then the border, then the load-bearing bands.
  • Look for cuts, abrasion, broken stitching, chemical staining, heat glazing and the colour or gloss change that signals UV degradation.
  • Keep the cargo inside the mesh and away from the border, and protect the bands from sharp edges and hot surfaces with a protection sleeve or pad.
  • Never exceed the rated capacity, never lift on fewer than the full set of loops, and never use the net to drag a load sideways.
  • Store the net clean and dry, off the ground and out of direct sun, and never repair a webbing net by knotting, welding or heating it.
  • Withdraw the net from service if any load-bearing band, the border, a corner loop or its stitching is damaged, and have nets inspected by a competent person at the interval your site requires.

14. Frequently asked questions

What working load should I specify?

The load as it is presented, for the arrangement you will actually use. A net’s rating is not the crane’s rating, and a four-point lift and a two-point choke give different ratings for the same net. Tell us the arrangement and we will rate the net for it.

Why polyester rather than nylon for a handling net?

Because a handling net works in cycles, and polyester keeps its shape through them. It stretches about 7 % at the working load limit against nylon’s 18 % to 22 %, so the net does not creep open as the crane takes up the slack; it does not absorb water, so the capacity holds in wet duty; and it outlasts nylon in dry abrasion against pallets and concrete. Choose nylon instead when the load shock-loads and a little give is safer.

Can the net be made to my size?

Yes. Kích cỡ, mesh, band width, layer count, number of lifting points, colour and capacity are all made to order, including truck bed, container, hold and hopper dimensions. Most of our nets start from a customer drawing.

What mesh opening should I use?

From the smallest dimension of the cargo, never from the size of the net. 100 × 100 mm is our standard; bags, block and boxed goods hold in it, while loose or small items need a smaller opening, and bulk rubble can take a wider one.

Flat net or closed-bottom bag?

Bag form when the cargo is loose, rounded or awkward and must not escape the mesh — that is the version used for loading and unloading. Flat form when the load holds its own shape and only has to be held together, such as pallets, bundles and stillages.

What do the band colours mean?

They follow the standard colour code: violet 1 t, green 2 t, yellow 3 t, grey 4 t, red 5 t, brown 6 t, blue 7 t and orange 8 t. The colour is a convenience for reading a net at a distance; the label is the identification, so read the label before the lift.

How is the capacity proved?

The webbing is rated to the EN 1492-1 basis and nets are supplied at 5:1, 6:1 or 7:1 as specified. The breaking load of every sling is tested on our own 1000 t machine and a material test report travels with the order; our products are CE and GS certified and our facilities hold CNAS, CE and DNV certification.

Will the net mark my cargo?

No — that is the reason to use a webbing net rather than wire rope or chain. The band is soft and flat, it lies against the load instead of biting into it, and the load is spread across the full width of every band under the cargo.

What else do you make in the same webbing?

The same high-strength band is used in our webbing slings and endless round slings, and in the round-rope range such as the nylon cargo lifting net and the webbing cargo lifting net.

/webbing-sling/ webbing net for lifting Material page to finished-product page: a natural relevance match
/cargo-lifting-net/crane-pallet-cargo-net/ polyester lifting net Pallet-sized variant feeding the parent polyester page
Homepage (products list or footer) cargo lifting net One homepage link to the section is enough; do not point the homepage at this page directly

Table 12 — Inbound internal link plan.

Two rules keep the cluster healthy. First, keep these anchors distinct from each other and from the anchors used on the nylon flat webbing net and heavy duty nylon cargo net sling pages — repeating one phrase across many internal links is the fastest way to create keyword cannibalisation inside your own site. Second, this page should sit one click from the hub and no deeper: breadcrumb Home > Các sản phẩm > Lưới nâng hàng > Polyester Webbing Net for Lifting, with the breadcrumb links in the HTML rather than only in a script.

Appendix C — Google indexing and ranking checklist

Item What to do for this page
Fix the page first The URL currently returns a 502 Bad Gateway error. Resolve the server fault and confirm the page loads with HTTP 200 before any SEO work is done — Google cannot index a page that errors
Indexability Return HTTP 200, keep the page out of noindex, and make sure it is not blocked in robots.txt
Canonical Self-referencing canonical to https://www.xulft.com/cargo-lifting-net/polyester-webbing-net-for-lifting/
XML sitemap Include the URL in the product sitemap, then resubmit the sitemap in Google Search Console
Internal links Apply both tables in Appendix B. The page needs at least one inbound link from an indexed page before it will be crawled quickly
Title and description Use the two values in Appendix A; keep them unique against the parent page and the other net pages
Heading structure One H1, then H2 per section, then H3 for sub-blocks — never skip a level
Image SEO Descriptive alt text on all 12 images, file names in lower case with hyphens, WebP format, and lazy loading below the fold
Structured data Add Product JSON-LD with name, image, description, brand and manufacturer, plus BreadcrumbList for the breadcrumb path and Organization at site level
Core Web Vitals Compress images to WebP, set width and height on every image to avoid layout shift, and defer non-critical scripts
Duplicate content Do not reuse the parent page’s or the heavy duty nylon cargo net sling page’s paragraphs. This page owns polyester as a material, the band specification table, the colour code and the loading and unloading duty cycle
Search Console Submit the URL for indexing, then check the Page Indexing and Core Web Vitals reports a week later
Rank tracking Track the primary keyword plus the three main secondary keywords weekly against the parent page and the top three competitors
