Crane Pallet Cargo Net

A high-strength webbing net for lifting palletised loads — sized to your pallet footprint and made to order in Taizhou, China

Short description

A crane pallet cargo net is a webbing net sized to a pallet, so that a pallet and everything stacked on it travel as one unit on the crane hook. The net is laid on the pallet or slipped under it, the load is stacked as normal, and the four corner loops are pulled up past the load and gathered onto the hook. The load never leaves the pallet, and nothing has to be re-stacked at the other end.

The net is quoted from the pallet footprint, not from the load height. We size it 100 to 200 mm larger than the pallet on every side, so the border clears the pallet corners and the load stays square inside the mesh. That is the whole trick of a pallet net: get the footprint right and the load takes care of itself.

We weave the webbing ourselves, so footprint, mesh, band width and capacity are set to your pallet rather than to a catalogue. Nets run from 0.5 t to 20 t, every sling is load tested and supplied with a material test report, and the products carry CE and GS certification. For the general-purpose bag form see the heavy duty nylon cargo net sling, for the material-led version the polyester webbing net for lifting, and for the whole range cargo lifting nets.

1. What a crane pallet cargo net is

Four features define the product. Each one exists because a pallet load behaves differently from loose cargo.

  • Sized to the pallet, not to the load — the net is quoted from the pallet footprint plus an overhang, so the border sits clear of the pallet corners and the stack stays square inside the mesh.
  • A 100 mm mesh as standard — pallet loads are boxes, bags, drums and bricks. A 100 mm opening holds them without strapping, while a wider mesh would let small items through.
  • Four corner loops with a reinforced border — the border carries the whole load from the mesh into the loops at the corners, where the load path turns.
  • Soft, flat webbing — the load passes through the net as a distributed pressure rather than a point load, so cartons are not crushed and shrink-wrapped packs are not cut.

The net can be supplied as a flat base net that the pallet sits on, as a top-cover net that drops over a loaded pallet, or as a closed-bottom bag for loose goods stacked on a pallet. Section 4 explains which one suits which job.

2. Why a net rather than forks, a collar or stretch wrap

A pallet can be moved with a forklift, a crane, a pallet collar or a steel cage. On crane work the webbing net usually wins, for reasons that have nothing to do with strength.

Alternative Where it falls short
Forklift forks A forklift cannot reach over a wall, into a hold, onto a roof or into a barge. Where the crane goes, the forks cannot follow
Steel cage or pallet collar Heavy, expensive, bulky to store and to return, and it has to be lifted with the load forever
Plastic banding or strapping One-trip. It has to be cut at the far end, it crushes the bottom cartons, and it leaves waste at every delivery
Stretch or shrink wrap Holds the stack together but carries no load of its own, so it does nothing for a crane lift
Rope net Works, but a rope lattice cuts into cartons and is heavier to rig than a flat webbing net of the same capacity

Table 1 — Why a webbing net is used for crane-lifting pallet loads.

A webbing net holding a stacked load together as it is lifted from a single crane hook.

Figure 2 — A webbing net holding a stacked load together as it is lifted from a single crane hook.

The practical advantages come down to three things. The net weighs a fraction of a cage and folds into a bag when the truck has gone. It is reusable for years rather than one trip. And because it spreads the load across the whole pallet face, the bottom cartons arrive in the same condition they left in — which is the complaint that banding and strapping most often attract.

3. Pallet sizes, and how the net is sized

A pallet net is specified by the pallet, not by the load. Give us the footprint and we size the net from it; give us the pallet type and we already know the footprint.

Figure 3 — Sizing a pallet net: the net length and width come from the pallet footprint plus an overhang on every side. The load height sets the drop, not the net size.

Pallet type Footprint Where it is standard
Display / Düsseldorf pallet 600 × 400 mm Retail display pallets, Europe
Half pallet 800 × 600 mm Europe; also the standard display and half-size unit
EPAL / Euro pallet 1200 × 800 mm Europe — the most common pallet in the world
ISO1 / industrial pallet 1200 × 1000 mm Europe and Asia
GMA / North American pallet 48 × 40 in (1219 × 1016 mm) North America — the standard grocery pallet
ISO2 / square pallet 1200 × 1200 mm Europe and Asia; also widely used in Australia

Table 2 — Standard pallet footprints. If your pallet is not on this list, send the dimensions and we will size the net from them.

Pallet footprint Recommended net size Mesh Band Typical capacity
800 × 600 mm 1000 × 800 mm 100 mm 50 mm single 0.5 t – 1.5 t
1200 × 800 mm (EPAL) 1400 × 1000 mm 100 mm 50 mm duplex 1 t – 3 t
1200 × 1000 mm (ISO1) 1400 × 1200 mm 100 mm 50 mm duplex 2 t – 4 t
1219 × 1016 mm (48 × 40 in) 1420 × 1220 mm 100 mm 50 mm duplex 2 t – 4 t

Any footprint Made to drawing 50 – 300 mm 25 – 200 mm 0.5 t – 20 t

Table 3 — Recommended net sizes by pallet footprint, at a 200 mm overhang on every side. The overhang can be reduced to 100 mm or increased to 300 mm if the load needs it.

Two sizing notes. The overhang is what keeps the border clear of the pallet corners, so do not reduce it just to save width. And the net is measured with the load removed — a net that only just fits an empty pallet will not go over a full one.

Flat versions that are not built to a pallet are covered as the nylon flat webbing net and the webbing cargo lifting net.

4. Base lift or top lift: how the net goes on the pallet

This is the decision that most often goes wrong, and it is worth settling before you order. There are four arrangements, and they are not interchangeable.

Arrangement How it works Used when
Base net — the pallet sits on the net The net is spread out, the pallet is placed on it, the load is stacked, and the four loops are pulled up past the load onto the hook. Pallet and load travel together The standard crane lift. The load has to leave the ground and the pallet is part of the consignment
Top-cover net over a loaded pallet The net drops over a pallet that is already loaded. The pallet is lifted on separate base slings or a pallet lifter, and the net only holds the stack together Where the net is protecting the load rather than carrying it, or where base slings are already in use
Closed-bottom bag on a pallet The pallet carries loose or bagged goods and the bag contains them, then the bag is lifted from its loops Loose goods presented on a pallet: bricks, bagged material, offcuts, reject parts
Cover net for transport only The net covers a loaded pallet for road or sea transit and is not used as a lifting device Stopping cartons blowing off a curtain-sider or shifting in a container — the tensioned duty is a cargo securing net

Table 4 — Base lift, top lift, bag and cover arrangements.

One warning we give every customer: a net fitted as a top cover for transport is not automatically a lifting net. Lifting duty has to be designed in — rated capacity, safety factor, loop construction and a per-net test. The tensioned version for lashing loads down is the cargo securing net, and it is rated differently on purpose.

Base lifting under a bundle: webbing base slings run under the load and take the weight, with the WLL printed on the band Base lifting under a bundle: webbing base slings run under the load and take the weight, with the WLL printed on the band A palletised sheet-metal pack being lifted — the wooden pallet stays part of the unit throughout the lift A palletised sheet-metal pack being lifted — the wooden pallet stays part of the unit throughout the lift

6. Net sizes and rated capacities

Capacity follows the footprint, the band and the number of lifting points together. The table below gives the working range for each net size at four corner loops; heavier duty is quoted from a wider or duplex band rather than from a bigger net.

Net size Mesh Band Rated capacity Typical pallet load
1000 × 800 mm 100 mm 50 mm single 0.5 t – 1.5 t Half pallets, small cartons, display pallets
1400 × 1000 mm 100 mm 50 mm duplex 1 t – 3 t Euro pallet of cartons, bags or tinned goods
1400 × 1200 mm 100 mm 50 mm duplex 2 t – 4 t ISO1 pallet, drums, boxed machinery parts

1400 × 1400 mm 100 mm 50 mm duplex 2 t – 5 t ISO2 square pallet, denser loads
2000 × 2000 mm 100 – 150 mm 75 mm duplex 4 t – 8 t Oversized pallets, two pallets carried together
2500 × 2500 mm 150 mm 75 – 100 mm duplex 6 t – 12 t Industrial pallet frames and stillages
Made to drawing 50 – 300 mm 25 – 100 mm 0.5 t – 20 t Any footprint, including truck bed and container sizes

Table 6 — Net sizes and rated capacities at four corner loops. Heavier ratings are quoted from the band, not from the net size.

Where the pallet net is used with a beam rather than a single hook, the rating is set by the beam — see lifting spreader beam. Long or non-palletised consignments are covered by the polyester lifting hoisting net.

7. Band, mesh and edge options

Three choices decide how a pallet net behaves in service: the band, the mesh and the edge. All three are set on the drawing.

Option What it does Choose it when
50 mm single band The lightest band we weave Half pallets and loads under 1.5 t, where net weight matters
50 mm duplex band Two layers stitched as one band — the pallet net standard Almost every pallet load; roughly double the wear life of a single band
75 / 100 mm duplex band Wider band spreads the load further Dense loads and any load with hard or square edges
100 mm square mesh Our standard pallet mesh Cartons, bags, drums, bricks and boxed goods
50 mm mesh Tighter mesh Small items that could pass through a 100 mm opening
150 – 300 mm mesh Wider mesh, lighter net Large unit loads that cannot escape the mesh
Folded and stitched edge Double-layer border stitched all round Every pallet net — the border carries the whole load into the loops
Reinforced corner Extra webbing and stitching at each loop All lifting duty; always specified above 3 t
Protection sleeve PU sleeve or wear pad at the contact point Pallets with nails or splinters, or sharp-edged loads
Close mesh bottom A closed bottom instead of an open lattice Loose goods presented on a pallet

8. Lifting configurations and fittings

How the net is hung decides how much of the pallet load it actually carries. These are the arrangements we fit most often.

  • Four-loop lift — the standard. The four corner loops are gathered onto the hook or a master ring and the net closes on the stack as the crane takes up the slack.
  • Eight-loop lift on a spreader beam — the net stays square, the load stays level, and each corner carries a predictable share. The right answer for wide or heavy pallets.
  • Two-loop basket under a pallet — base slings run under the pallet and up on two sides. Fast, but it de-rates the sling; ask us for the derated capacity rather than using the four-loop figure.
  • Choke or basket through the pallet voids — only where the pallet is sound and the void is a designed lift point, and only at a derated capacity.
Fitting Used with Note
Sewn webbing loop Four-loop lift The standard; stitched through the doubled border
Master ring or master link Four-loop lift Gathers all four loops onto one point under the hook
Shackle or hook Spreader beam lift Grade 80 fittings supplied with the beam on request
Protection sleeve or pad Nailed or splintered pallets Slips over the band at the contact point; the cheapest way to extend net life
PU-coated band Outdoor and high-abrasion duty Improves abrasion resistance and holds the mesh shape when empty
Repair kit Fleets maintaining their own equipment Spare band, stitching thread and a spare corner loop

Table 8 — Lifting configurations and fittings.

Whatever the arrangement, the load goes into the corners and the border — never into the middle of a panel. Dragging the net sideways with the crane, or lifting on fewer than the full set of loops, are the two ways a pallet net is destroyed in service.

9. Colour, printing and identification

A pallet net moves between bays, trucks and sites, so it has to be identifiable wherever it ends up. Flat webbing carries the identification on the band itself.

  • The working load limit, net size and mesh are printed along the band, where the marking cannot be pulled off or washed away.
  • The standard colour code ties the band colour to the capacity — violet 1 t, green 2 t, yellow 3 t, grey 4 t, red 5 t, brown 6 t, blue 7 t, orange 8 t — so the net can be read from across a bay.
  • A sewn capacity label is fitted as standard in addition to the printed marking, so the net and its paperwork always match.
  • Pallet size can be printed on the band as well, which stops a 1400 × 1200 net being used on a 1400 × 1000 pallet.
  • OEM orders can carry your own brand, address, warning text or certificate number woven into the band.
  • Nets ship folded in a bag or a crate — a set of ten pallet nets takes the space of one pallet.

10. Quality control and certification

We weave the band ourselves, which is what makes a made-to-pallet net practical: footprint, mesh, band width, colour, printing and capacity are all set inside our own plant, so the net is built to the drawing instead of assembled from whatever band a supplier happens to stock.

Figure 4 — Our own weaving floor: high-strength webbing coming off the needle looms, the same band used in every net on this page.

  • 40 years of lifting equipment manufacturing — founded in 1985 in Taizhou, Jiangsu, with more than 200 employees, one of China’s largest lifting sling and net production bases.
  • Own weaving mill — band width, layer count, colour and printing are under our control, and the same looms supply our webbing slings and round slings.
  • CE and GS certified lifting products, with JIS certification on export orders.
  • Own testing laboratory — our facilities hold CNAS laboratory accreditation, European CE certification and DNV certification, with 15 authorised patents on our lifting products.
  • 1000 t horizontal test machine — the breaking load of every sling is tested and documented rather than sampled, and a material test report travels with the order.
  • Webbing rated to the EN 1492-1 basis, and every net marked with its working load limit, size and mesh before packing.

11. How to specify a crane pallet cargo net

Eight pieces of information are enough for us to quote correctly the first time. If you only know the pallet type, tell us that — the footprint is already in Table 2.

Information we need Why it matters
Pallet footprint, or pallet type Sets the net length and width, plus the overhang on every side
Load weight and load height Sets the rated capacity and the drop from the loops to the bottom of the load
Base net, top cover or bag Decides whether the net carries the load or only holds the stack together
Mesh opening Sized from the smallest item on the pallet, never from the total weight
Band width and layer Sets the strength and the wear life of every band
Number and type of lifting points Four loops, or eight for a spreader beam or a wide pallet
Environment and duty cycle UV, salt water, chemicals, temperature, and how many lifts a day the net runs
Dokumentácia Safety factor, CE / GS marking, test report, own-brand printing and export packing

Table 9 — What we need to quote a crane pallet cargo net.

12. Where crane pallet cargo nets are used

Sector What the net lifts Why a pallet-sized net suits it
Ports and terminals Palletised cargo lifted into holds, onto barges and between quay and ship The pallet stays under the load, so nothing is re-stacked at the ship’s side
Warehousing and distribution Pallets to mezzanine floors, roof level and racking a forklift cannot reach Extends the crane or hoist into places forks cannot go
Construction and roofing Palletised bricks, block, tiles and insulation onto roofs and upper floors Banding is cut at ground level; the net lifts the whole pallet intact
Food and beverage Palletised cartons, cans, drums and big bags Load is split across the whole pallet face, so bottom cartons are not crushed
Steel and metal processing Palletised sheet and plate packs, boxed parts and offcuts Non-marking, and it holds a pallet that is past its best
Chemicals and drums Drum pallets, IBCs on pallets and bagged material Soft band contact; the net does not spark or corrode
Cold stores Palletised frozen and chilled goods Polyester keeps its properties at freezer temperatures
Rental and hire fleets Palletised loads moved by crane on building and event sites One net replaces a cage for every pallet size, and it folds away between jobs

13. Care, inspection and retirement

  • Read the printed marking and the capacity label before every lift, and check that the pallet load is inside the rated capacity for the way the net is actually rigged.
  • Inspect the corner loops and their stitching first — that is where a webbing net wears first — then the stitched border, then the load-bearing bands.
  • Look for cuts, abrasion, broken stitching, chemical staining, heat glazing and the colour or gloss change that signals UV degradation.
  • Check the pallet as well as the net. A pallet with broken boards or protruding nails will damage the band, and a pallet that is falling apart is not a safe unit to lift.
  • Never exceed the rated capacity, never lift on fewer than the full set of loops, and never use the net to drag a load sideways.
  • Store the net clean and dry, off the ground and out of direct sun, and never repair a webbing net by knotting, welding or heating it.
  • Withdraw the net from service if any load-bearing band, the border, a corner loop or its stitching is damaged, and have nets inspected by a competent person at the interval your site requires.

14. Frequently asked questions

How do I know what net size my pallet needs?

Measure the pallet footprint and add 100 to 200 mm on every side. A 1200 × 800 mm Euro pallet takes a 1400 × 1000 mm net; a 1200 × 1000 mm ISO1 pallet takes a 1400 × 1200 mm net. If you tell us the pallet type we will size it for you — the standard footprints are in Table 2.

Does the load height change the net size?

No. The load height sets how far down the net has to drop from the loops, but not the length and width. A tall pallet needs a net that reaches the bottom of the pallet when the loops are on the hook; a short one does not. Tell us the load height and we set the drop accordingly.

Should the net go under the pallet or over the load?

Base net when the pallet and its load have to leave the ground together — that is the standard crane lift, and the pallet stays part of the consignment. Top cover when the net only has to hold the stack together and the pallet is lifted separately on base slings. The four arrangements are compared in Section 4.

Can I use the same net on different pallet sizes?

Only downwards, and only with care. A net sized for a 1200 × 1000 mm pallet will be loose on a 1200 × 800 mm pallet, and a loose net can slip or catch. If you handle several pallet sizes, order a net per size and print the pallet size on the band — that is much cheaper than an accident.

What capacity do I need?

The gross weight of the pallet plus its load, for the arrangement you will actually use. A four-loop lift and a two-loop basket give different ratings for the same net. Tell us the arrangement and we will rate the net for it rather than quoting the highest number on the sheet.

Will the net crush or mark the cartons?

No — the opposite. Because the band is flat and wide, the load is spread across the full width of every band under the pallet instead of being concentrated on a steel edge. That is why pallet loads lifted in webbing nets arrive with the bottom cartons undamaged, and why banding and strapping attract the opposite complaint.

Can the net stay on the pallet during transport?

A lifting net can be left on a loaded pallet as a cover, but check two things first: that transport duty is intended, and that the net is not tensioned over the load unless it is rated for lashing. A top-cover net is not automatically a lifting net, and the reverse is also true.

How is the capacity proved?

The webbing is rated to the EN 1492-1 basis and nets are supplied at 5:1, 6:1 or 7:1 as specified. The breaking load of every sling is tested on our own 1000 t machine and a material test report travels with the order; our products are CE and GS certified and our facilities hold CNAS, CE and DNV certification.

What else do you make for pallet and cargo handling?

The same webbing goes into our webbing slings and endless round slings, and the net range continues with the nylon cargo lifting net and the cargo lifting net.

Table 12 — Outbound anchors on this page (18 unique internal links).

B2 — Inbound links to add, so this page gains weight

These are the links that build this page’s ranking power. Each one should be added to an existing, already-indexed page and should point at the crane pallet cargo net URL with the anchor shown. Vary the anchor as listed rather than repeating one phrase across every source page.

Source page Anchor text to use Why this link builds weight
/products/cargo-lifting-net/ (hub) crane pallet cargo net A link from the category hub is the single strongest internal signal for a child product page
/cargo-lifting-net/ (section page) pallet cargo net Passes section-level relevance together with the parent hub link
/cargo-lifting-net/cargo-lifting-net/ pallet lifting net The parent detail page is the most closely related page, so the link is worth the most in context
/cargo-lifting-net/heavy-duty-nylon-cargo-net-sling/ crane net for pallets The heavy-duty bag page should point here whenever the load is palletised
/cargo-lifting-net/polyester-webbing-net-for-lifting/ webbing pallet net The material page and the pallet page reinforce each other; link both ways
/cargo-lifting-net/webbing-cargo-lifting-net/ pallet net sling Same construction family, different sizing rule
/webbing-sling/ pallet cargo net Material page to finished-product page: a natural relevance match
Homepage (products list or footer) cargo lifting net One homepage link to the section is enough; do not point the homepage at this page directly

Table 13 — Inbound internal link plan.

Two rules keep the cluster healthy. First, keep these anchors distinct from each other and from the anchors used on the heavy duty nylon cargo net sling and polyester webbing net for lifting pages — repeating one phrase across many internal links is the fastest way to create keyword cannibalisation inside your own site. Second, this page should sit one click from the hub and no deeper: breadcrumb Home > Produkty > Sieť na zdvíhanie nákladu > Crane Pallet Cargo Net, with the breadcrumb links in the HTML rather than only in a script.

Appendix C — Google indexing and ranking checklist

Item What to do for this page
Indexability Return HTTP 200, keep the page out of noindex, and make sure it is not blocked in robots.txt
Canonical Self-referencing canonical to https://www.xulft.com/cargo-lifting-net/crane-pallet-cargo-net/
XML sitemap Include the URL in the product sitemap, then resubmit the sitemap in Google Search Console
Internal links Apply both tables in Appendix B. The page needs at least one inbound link from an indexed page before it will be crawled quickly
Title and description Use the two values in Appendix A; keep them unique against the parent page and the other net pages
Heading structure One H1, then H2 per section, then H3 for sub-blocks — never skip a level
Image SEO Descriptive alt text on all 12 images, file names in lower case with hyphens, WebP format, and lazy loading below the fold
Structured data Add Product JSON-LD with name, image, description, brand and manufacturer, plus BreadcrumbList for the breadcrumb path and Organization at site level
Core Web Vitals Compress images to WebP, set width and height on every image to avoid layout shift, and defer non-critical scripts
Duplicate content Do not reuse the parent page’s or the other net pages’ paragraphs. This page owns pallet sizing, the standard pallet footprint table, base lift versus top lift, and pallet-specific applications
Existing content to keep The page already carries the five product bullets — fully customizable safety ratio / length / colour, premium materials, wear and high-temperature resistance, soft flexible lightweight with no harm to cargo, and CE and GS certification. All five are covered in the sections above; keep that wording live on the page
Search Console Submit the URL for indexing, then check the Page Indexing and Core Web Vitals reports a week later
Rank tracking Track the primary keyword plus the three main secondary keywords weekly against the parent page and the top three competitors
