500 kg is a rating, not a product. The same half-tonne rating is sold as an endless belt, as a sling with loops, and as a one-way sling that gets cut off at the destination — and the three are not interchangeable. This page is about choosing the form; the numbers are the same for all of them.
A Rating, Not a Product
Endless belt
No eyes. Chokes anywhere along its length, pulls through a gap and comes back on itself. The form for crates, bundles and anything already closed.
Best when there is no hook access
With loops
Sewn eyes at both ends. Sits on a hook or a shackle and stays there, and the eyes are the part that wears — which is also the part you can see.
Best for repeated hook work
One-way
Made for a single trip: goes out with the load, is cut off at the far end. No register, no return freight, no re-inspection.
Best for one-way export
Two 500s Are Not 1,000
Half-tonne slings are almost always used in pairs, and that is where the arithmetic goes wrong. Two legs only share the load by the angle between them. Stand them vertical and they share it evenly; splay them out and each leg pulls sideways as well as up, and the pair carries less — not more.
So a 700 kg pump on two 500 kg slings is legal at 30° and illegal at 70° — the slings did not change, the rigging did. If the geometry cannot be kept inside 45°, the answer is a bigger sling, not a third leg.

Reusable, or One Trip?
If the sling comes back, it needs a register and an inspection interval — buy the reusable version and treat it like any other lifting accessory. If it leaves with the load and nobody sees it again, a one-way sling is cheaper by the thousand because the cost of the register disappears with the freight.

Buyer Questions
Is 500 kg the lifting capacity or the breaking strength?
The capacity. 500 kg is the working load limit — what it may lift, vertically, with the webbing sound. The belt breaks at about 3,500 kg, and that margin is not spare capacity to be used.
Can I lift 800 kg with two 500 kg slings?
Only inside 45° from vertical, where the pair is rated 700 kg — so no, not 800. Straight above the load the pair is 700 kg; splayed past 45° the pair is 500 kg total — the same as one sling on its own, not double.
Why is it white when 1 tonne is violet?
EN 1492-1 starts its colour code at 1 t. Half a tonne sits below the coded range, so it is supplied white or natural and the label becomes the only thing that tells you what it is.
Endless or with loops for crates?
Endless, almost always. On a closed crate you are threading through a gap rather than hanging from a hook, and an endless belt has no eye to jam in the gap.
What length do I need?
Measure the wrap, not the load. For a single choke round a bundle, 1.5 m is usually enough; a pair for a 700 kg pump at 40° typically lands between 2 m og 3 m.
