WLL 1000T Polyester Round Slings

A WLL 1000T polyester round sling is rated 1,000,000 kg on a single vertical leg: a continuous loop of high-tenacity polyester yarn inside a heavy duty woven sleeve, a minimum breaking load of 7,000,000 kg at 7:1, そして 2,000,000 kg proof load applied to every body before it is marked.

Nothing at this size is on a shelf. There is no list price because there is no list — the sling is built against a drawing, proof loaded in a bed, crated and shipped. So a 1,000 t order is really decided by two things: what the body is made of, and which decisions were frozen before the weaving started.

WLL 1000T polyester round sling marked WLL1000T20M, coiled out on a factory floor
WLL1000T20M — a 20 メートル 1,000 t body. The sewn marking carries the capacity, the length and the batch; at this size it is the whole identity of the sling.

Five Inputs Behind the Number

A quote for a 1,000 t sling is not the capacity multiplied by a rate. It is five inputs added together, and only some of them are under the buyer’s control. Knowing which is which is most of the negotiation.

Input Why it dominates at 1,000 t Yours to control?
Yarn lot The core has to come from one continuous lot, because the extension under load is set by the yarn and has to be consistent along the whole loop No — it is set by the count and the mill
Weave and closing Machine hours on a double-layer sleeve, plus the closing at the ends; the body cannot be woven faster by wanting it sooner Partly — through the sleeve specification
Proof bed slot 2,000,000 kg applied to each body; the bed is a constrained resource, and a slot is booked, not bought Partly — by order timing and batch size
Crate and freight The coil is break-bulk rather than palletised, and it is priced on volume as much as weight Yes — packing and delivery terms
Drawing and documents Approval drawing, set identification, marking scheme, and any third-party witness Yes — freeze them early

Three Decisions That Move It

1. Freeze the length convention before weaving

Lay-flat length and full loop circumference differ by a factor of two, and both are legitimate ways to describe the same sling. Whichever you use has to be agreed on the drawing before the body is woven, because afterwards the only way to change it is to make a new sling. This is the single most expensive misunderstanding in the whole order.

2. Settle the marking and witness regime early

Standard marking, a client-specific label layout, a set number scheme, a third-party witness at the proof load — each adds a step and, in the case of a witness, a slot that has to be coordinated with someone else’s calendar. Deciding this after the drawing is released is what turns a schedule into a conversation.

3. Choose protection at build, not after

Wear pads at the choke point and protective sleeves are added while the body is being made. A closed endless loop cannot be retro-fitted with anything that has to pass over it, so a sling built without protection stays without protection for its whole life.

What Does Not Move It

  • Sleeve colour. A colour is a dye-lot choice, not a capacity or a cost decision — and above 12 t it identifies nothing anyway.
  • A longer label. More text on the label is a layout question, not an engineering one.
  • “A bit more safety factor.” 7:1 is the build. A 6:1 または 8:1 sling is a different core count and a different body, quoted as such — not a checkbox on the same one.
  • Speed. Freight can be expedited; a proof bed cannot. The way to bring a 1,000 t delivery forward is to book the slot earlier, not to pay for faster shipping.
Heavy duty sling bodies laid out side by side on a factory floor for a length check
Bodies laid out to a common length before marking. 長さ, not capacity, is the figure that has to be agreed first — and the one that cannot be corrected later.

The Numbers You Are Buying

Arrangement Mode factor 使用荷重制限
Vertical 1.0 1,000,000 kg (1,000 t)
Choked 0.8 800,000 kg (800 t)
Basket, 0–7° 2.0 2,000,000 kg (2,000 t)
Basket, 7–45° 1.4 1,400,000 kg (1,400 t)
Basket, 45–60° 1.0 1,000,000 kg (1,000 t)

In a set, four legs at 0–45° to vertical rate 2,100,000 kg (factor 2.1) and 1,500,000 kg at 45–60° (factor 1.5). The factors stop at four legs; beyond that the lift is engineered, and the 800 t page sets out what that involves.

What to Send With the Enquiry

Five answers turn an enquiry into a drawing, and a drawing into a price. Sent together, they usually remove a round of questions:

  • Load and centre of gravity — the figure the sling has to carry, and where it sits.
  • Leg count and angle — the arrangement, and the angle at working load rather than hand-tight.
  • Length and its convention — lay-flat or full circumference, and the working height you actually need.
  • The interface — hook bowl, master link or shackle, so the body bears on a radius and not a pinch point.
  • マーキング, certificate and delivery — label layout, set numbering, witness requirements, port and packing.

Proof, Marking and What Travels With It

Every body is proof loaded to 2,000,000 kg and the figure is recorded against its serial number before the label is sewn on. The label, the drawing and the proof record travel together in the crate: at 1,000 t the document is part of the product, because a body without its record cannot be verified at the hook, and a sling that cannot be verified is scrap with a coil attached.

In Service

  • Read the whole loop. The core is hidden; cuts, glazing, hardening or core show-through anywhere on the sleeve retire the sling.
  • Dress it, never drag it. The sleeve is the wear layer and dragging spends it before the first lift.
  • Wear pads at the choke, edge protectors at the bearing. Both are cheap at build and unavailable afterwards.
  • Store coiled, dry, off the floor, with the drawing and proof record on the crate.

Applications

  • Modules and heavy fabrications too large to split, lifted on four legs from a single hook
  • Reactor shells, vessel sections and castings where the load cannot be re-rigged mid-lift
  • Steel plate and coil packs where a soft, non-marking bearing is required
  • Long loads picked from a beam that holds the legs at a controlled angle
  • Port, shipyard and heavy fabrication work where water and grit rule out a fibre that rots
  • Any lift where the sling has to be proof loaded, serialised and documented before it goes to site

Before crating. Coil weight and volume set the freight, and the crate is built around the coil rather than the other way round.

よくある質問

How much can four WLL 1000T slings lift?

2,100,000 kg at 0–45° to vertical, and 1,500,000 kg at 45–60°. The master link, top shackle and hook each have to be rated for the set figure, not for one leg.

What is the proof load?

2,000,000 kg, twice the vertical working load limit, applied to each sling individually and recorded against its serial before marking.

Why isn’t it priced per tonne like a small sling?

Because the cost sits in five inputs — a single continuous yarn lot, machine hours on a double-layer sleeve, a proof bed slot, break-bulk freight, and the drawing and certificate pack — not in the capacity figure. A small sling shares those costs across a production run; this one does not.

Can the length be changed after ordering?

Not once the body is woven. Lay-flat length and full circumference differ by a factor of two, so the convention is agreed on the approval drawing before weaving. After that, a change is a new sling.

Is 1,000 tonnes the largest you make?

It is the largest polyester endless body in the range. Above it the answer is a different build or a different arrangement — a 900 t UHMWPE body where the weight of the sling matters, or an engineered multi-leg set rather than a bigger single sling.
